Besiktas sign Douglas from Barcelona

The Black Eagles have reached a deal with Brazilian full-back Douglas.

After announcing the transfer of American international Tyler Boyd last week, Besiktas have pulled off another bargain signing. The Turkish club have agreed terms with Brazilian right-back Douglas.

Douglas spent last season on loan with Super Lig minnows Sivasspor. The Brazilian’s parent club, FC Barcelona, have decided against extending the player’s contract thus leaving him free to conduct talks with other clubs.

The right-back has agreed to a three-year deal with The Black Eagles and will earn €800,000 per season.

He arrived in Istanbul on Friday evening to complete his transfer to The Black Eagles.

Speaking to reporters at Istanbul Airport on Friday, Douglas said he wanted to join Besiktas in the January transfer window but a deal couldn’t be reached.

The 28-year-old right-back made 32 appearances for Sivasspor last season during which he scored 3 goals and made 7 assists.

Newly appointed coach Abdullah Avci has asked the club’s administration to bring in another defender before the new season begins.

Initially, the club’s target was Vitor Hugo but due to his preference to join Palmerias, Besiktas have set eyes on other potential recruits.

The Turkish football club have opened talks with Stoke City for their Dutch defender Bruno Martins Indi. Besiktas have made an official offer to loan the 27-year-old.

The other alternative for Besiktas’ defense is Timothee Kolodziejczak, who is currently playing for Mexico’s Tigres.

Besiktas are hoping to strengthen their defense by adding one of the two players to their squad this summer.
