Trabzonspor offer Adebayor €1.5m deal

The Black Sea Storm are planning to add a striker to their squad before the summer transfer window shuts.

Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor are in dire need of a new striker. The club’s president Ahmet Agaoglu has publicly confirmed the club’s intention to sign a new forward in the coming days and one of those could be Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Togo international is currently a free agent after parting ways with his former club Istanbul Basaksehir in June.

Trabzonspor were seemingly on the verge of completing the transfer of English forward Daniel Sturridge after reports emerged claiming the striker agreed to terms with the Northeastern Turkish club but the Liverpool forward has asked for more time before making any commitments.

In case Sturridge’s transfer falls through, Trabzonspor are looking at other alternatives.

They have offered former Man City star Emmanuel Adebayor a one-year contract with an annual salary of €1.5 million. However, the tall forward is reported to want a two-year deal worth €2 million-per-year.

Adebayor’s agent in Turkey, Semih Usta, confirmed the offer to Turkish media on Friday.

“Our talks with Trabzonspor continue. Adebayor demanded a two-year contract from Trabzonspor. He does not want to think about what will happen after six months. Trabzonspor, however, offered a one-year contract. There isn’t much of an issue regarding the wages. If both sides can make a bit of compromises, he will sign for Trabzonspor,” Usta said.

Other names that are linked with Trabzonspor include Everton’s Oumar Niasse and Giron’as Seydou Doumbia.

The Turkish club has made inquiries for both players.

Meanwhile, Trabzonspor announced their latest transfer on Friday evening; defender Ivanildo Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.

Fernandes joins Trabzonspor on a season-long loan and will earn €540,000 for the duration of his stay with the club.

His agent has been paid €60,000 for facilitating the transfer.

The transfer was confirmed by Trabzonspor on Turkey’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).

Fernandes greeted by fans at Trabzon Airport.
