Sneijder, Ribery, Gomis celebrate Galatasaray’s win

The three former Galatasaray players have shown their support for the club’s return to the Champions League with last night’s win.

After missing out on the Champions League for two seasons, Galatasaray is finally back and they’ve started their campaign with a 3-0 win against Lokomotiv Moscow last night.

Three of the club’s former players, Franck Ribery, Bafetimbi Gomis and Wesley Sneijder have all chimed in with their support for their former club. Each player took to social media to congratulate the team’s return and victory.

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery posted the following congratulatory message on his Twitter account. Ribery spent a season on loan with The Lions during the early stages of his career.

Fan favourite Wesley Sneijder, currently playing for Qatari side Al-Gharafa, spoke to beIN Sports after the final whistle and expressed his happiness for Galatasaray.

“Galatasaray fans were waiting for this because they weren’t in the Champions League for a long time. It was a nice game but it wasn’t an easy one. Lokomotiv Moscow had serious attacks in the first half. However, I’m happy for Galatasaray and the fans, for winning their first their first game in the Champions League,” he said.

Another famous name who chimed in was former striker Bafetimbi Gomis. The French striker, who left for Saudi Arabia in the summer, shared his feelings on Twitter.
