Burak Yilmaz makes “peace” with Besiktas fans

Burak Yilmaz makes peace with Besiktas fans

The Turkish international scored twice against Bursaspor, easing the pressure off of him after joining The Black Eagles in January.

Besiktas striker Burak Yilmaz bagged a brace during his team’s Super Lig duel with Bursaspor on Saturday. The two goals were enough to give his side the win as they moved up the league ever so slightly to get closer to league leaders Basaksehir and to finally get the approval of Besiktas fans.

Yilmaz’s arrival last month was met with protests from Besiktas supporters who did not approve of his transfer.

As the team warmed up at Vodefone Park prior to kick off, fans called the striker over to the tribunes where they applauded him, signalling that they were willing to accept him as one of their own. The veteran striker returned the gesture and bowed to the passionate group.

The 33-year-old started off his second stint with The Black Eagles slow, having failed to score in his first two games but managed to score twice on Saturday evening against Bursaspor, thereby “opening his account” with the club.
