Besiktas plan Japan expansion

The Black Eagles are hoping to capitalize on the interest generated from the signing of Shinji Kagawa in January.

The management of Besiktas football club are considering a number of programs to increase their presence in the Far East, particularly Japan after the arrival of Shinji Kagawa garnered a large amount of interest from the Asian country.

The club signed a cooperation agreement with Japanese media company Mainichi at the beginning of the season and will have their games broadcasted live in Japan to appease their Japanese fans.

Besiktas president Fikret Orman has made it clear in the past that he wants to see the club become a worldwide brand which includes a big presence in China and Japan. Besiktas board member Huseyin Yucel, who is responsible for marketing and new projects, met with Japan’s Ambassador to Turkey, Akio Miyajima to discuss the matter.

The Super Lig club plans to offer a tour specifically for Japanese fans and host them at Vodafone Park during home games.

A plan to schedule a summer friendly and a pre-season training camp in Japan is in the works. The club’s management will consult with board officials and sponsors at the end of the season in order to establish a plan that will enable them to promote Besiktas in the Far East in the best way possible.
