Bursaspor donates to Kenyan refugee team Kakuma United

The Green Crocodiles have extended a hand to their Kenyan counterparts, Kakuma United.

Turkish Super Lig outfit Bursaspor have donated football equipment to Kenya’s Kakuma United. The two clubs share the same nickname; The Green Crocodiles.

The donation was made through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). The organization partnered with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) to send the merchandise to the Kenyan club, which is mainly made up of refugees from various African nations.

One of Kakuma United’s players, Abraham Luol of South Sudan, said football unites all refugees from different nationalities at the refugee camp in Kakuma.

“I would like to show a sign of gratitude to Bursaspor for their donation. It is of much help to us. There are many challenges in Kakuma. We are not able to afford such uniforms. We owe them a lot so I would just like to say thank you,” he said as he expressed his gratitude.

Emre Yuksek, the TIKA Nairobi coordinator, said the Turkish club have been invited to a friendly game in Kenya which could help in creating further opportunities.

“The merchandise was graciously accepted by Kakuma United players, who appreciated the recognition of their talents by professional football players,” he said.
